A guide for young adults.
It seems like making friends gets more difficult with every passing year. Why can’t we go back to kindergarten where sharing lunches was all it took for an ever lasting friendship to bloom? or college years, were a six-pack was the first step for two persons to become best friends?.
I wish to go back but, until a time machine is invented by someone other than me, I have to gather every single bit of friendliness in my body and go out there and make friends!
This is my HOW TO MAKE FRIENDS GUIDE FOR SOCIALLY RETARDED PEOPLE.
They say that you are never fully dressed without a smile and I think it is true it makes people look more approachable and is like a cue for others to come and talk to you. This is a risky move, I would advice to practice different smiles in order to not seem creepy and send the right mesage. Also remember eye-contact and the five seconds rule if you are not familiar with this things you can read about them here.
2. PRACTICE SMALL TALK.
For some reason I still don’t get people LOVE talking about weather, bring it on as a topic for conversation and it can go on for hours, it is boring but at least everyone will have an opinion. The same applies to all of these other things.
3. POLITICS AND RELIGION ARE NO, NO.
I was raised a lady and lady never give their opinion about this two things and when making friends I have found is better to keep your strong opinions until you actually know the person just imagine meeting someone and the first thing out of their mouth is how much they love Jesus. I love Jesus but when meeting someone new don´t yell it to their face.
4. HAVE A SMALL INTRO ABOUT YOURSELF.
If you really don’t know anyone or there is no one to introduce you to a group of people the best is to just to say something short like ” Hi I am X and totally agree with what you were saying” or “I don’t mean to interrupt, my name is Y”.
5. ASK SOMETHING.
Even better than small talk is asking someone a specific question that requires an elaborate answer like “How´s your brother?” or “How is school going?” that way you don´t have to do the talking and the other person feel like you care about them.
6. BE NICE
That’s a rule that should never be overseen.
That´s it for today people of the world, go out, meet someone, make friends, come back and tell me all about it.
